ABOUT KELLY AND THE KELLYGIRLS
Toronto Renaissance Man R.Kelly Clipperton founded Kelly & The Kellygirls in 2003. In the 10 years since, the band has released 3 studio albums, 1 live DVD/album, 1 Mini-Album, toured Canada 4 times, the UK/France twice and California. The band, currently a 7-piece, known for its unique cultural fusion of ska, swing, mariachi, reggae and flamenco, always brings a bold, dramatic stage of theatrics when performing live. The Kellygirls (Yeshua Ragbir on guitar, Cathy Marchese on drums, Holt Stuart-Hitchcox on bass and the sexiest all-girl horn section: Alison Young, Marie Goudy & Ms. Jill Stella) are about to release their 6th recording, with mastermind Brad Nelson at the controls. A full release and launch of the concept album is expected in the fall of 2013.
ABOUT “THE DEEP ENDING”
Clipperton began writing “The Deep Ending” after a challenging time in his personal life and thought that his natural draw towards water would help in healing. He conceptualized the flow of the 12 songs around a man who considers ‘relocating’ to water in an attempt to find happiness. Lyrically the album flows from the joy and celebration of beach life, to swimming and considering diving under, to life/conflict underwater, to a cathartic ending that has no clear finale to it. Sonically the Kellygirls move effortlessly between Soca, Reggae, Swing, Waltz, Deep Disco and Dirty Blues on this journey, pumping out classic Kellygirls-style songs with a few epic surprises along the way.
